“Salesman” star Shahab Hosseini launches film studio

TEHRAN –(Iranart)- Shahab Hosseini, the Iranian actor who won a Cannes Palme d’Or for his role in Asghar Farhadi’s “The Salesman”, has established a film studio.

The studio named Nedaye Haft Aseman is seeking to discover and support talents in cinema and theater, he said in a post published on his Instagram on Friday.

He also said that the studio has as its twin sister Seven Skies Entertainment in the United States, which intends to produce films and plays based on “rich Persian culture and literature in order to achieve a high status for the culture and literature in the global market.”

Hosseini has produced “Midnight Sun” that Shobeir Shirazi directed based on Romanian playwright Matei Visniec’s “The Story of the Panda Bears Told by a Saxophonist Who Has a Girlfriend in Frankfurt”.

The movie had its premiere at the Roxie Theater in San Francisco on May 12. It was also screened in Los Angeles, San Jose and Sacramento.
