Ali-Asghar Shahbazi passes away at 98

TEHRAN.(Iranart) –Ali-Asghar Shahbazi, Iranian actor, passed away at 98 on sunday.

Shahbazi’s son, Amir, confirmed the news of his father’s death, saying the veteran actor died on sunday

Ali-Asghar Shahbazi was an Iranian actor. Before starting acting career, Shahbazi was bank employee who was neither interested in cinema, Shahbazi debut in film "Under the Peach Tree" by Iraj Tahmasb. He was cast as Nader’s father after Asghar Farhadi were watching that picture.

For his role in "A Separation", he won the Silver Bear for Best Actor (as part of ensemble) at 61st Berlin International Film Festival in 2011.

Shahbazi also played in the movie "Five in Five" (2013) directed by Tara Otadi.
