TEHRAN.(Iranart) – Iranian filmmaker Qasideh Golmakani, director of the acclaimed Iranian short films ‘Violet’ and ‘Horn,’ is selected for the international competition jury of the 25th REGARD – Saguenay International Short Film Festival in Canada, slated for June 9-12.
She has already served as a jury member at the 3rd Cortos en Grande Short Film Festival in Chile, IRNA wrote.
Golmakani was a member of the documentary competition jury of the Batumi International Art-House Film Festival in Georgia in 2019.
She has made several short films, including ‘Limbo,’ ‘Violet’ and ‘Online Shopping,’ which have been screened in several international events.
Her latest film, ‘Horn,’ is about a woman who tries to find a place to park her car in Tehran to be on time for a business appointment. Men on the streets disturb her concentration while driving.
REGARD is now part of the festivals which provide access to the oscar for the short film (Academy qualifying festivals for the Short Film Awards).
The festival is one of the most important short film festivals in North America. Each year, the event, which was founded in 1995 in Saguenay, presents around 200 international and Quebec short films. REGARD is a gateway to the Americas for short films and an international launch pad for Canadian cinema.
Each year, REGARD, which is recognized by its peers, gathers about 300 professionals (directors, producers, domestic and international purchasers, distributors, journalists, screenwriters) who present their films to the public or participate in the activities (workshops, panel discussions, and master classes) of the Short Film Market.
