Review of Moradi Kermani’s Stories
The Hosseinieh Ershad Public Library in Tehran has started a series of meetings on ‘Joy of Literature’. The sessions are held in the third week of every month.
The eighth such meeting is slated for January 17 and will review two famous stories by the well-known Iranian writer Houshang Moradi Kermani, 73, LISNA (lisna.ir) reported.
Stories selected for review and discussion are ‘You’re No Stranger Here’ and ‘Cucumber’s End.’ The two-hour meeting will start at 4 pm in the presence of Moradi Kermani himself and those interested can participate.
‘You Are No Stranger’ is an autobiographical account of his childhood. The other work is a collection of over 30 short stories which, as the author says, takes a lighter look at tragic issues such as death, disease and senility and “can be read and enjoyed by anyone.”
Farzaneh Okhovat, 56, researcher in literature, writer and expert in language teaching will moderate the meeting, and scholar, essayist, librarian and researcher in literature Yazdan Mansourian, 43, will preside.
Known for his masterful presentation of social issues, Moradi Kermani has written numerous stories some of which are scripted for films. He has received the University of San Francisco’s 2000 Book of the Year award and the 1992 Hans Christian Andersen Certificate of Honor.
