Ramiz Guliyev wishes for replay of concerts with Fakhreddini

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – The Azerbaijani music icon Ramiz Guliyev said that he wished he could repeat the memorable performances he experienced with Iranian maestro Farhad Fakhreddini in Iran’s National Orchestra.

“I made numerous trips to Iran years ago, touring the country with Iran’s National Orchestra under the baton of maestro Fakhreddini,” said Guliyev in a press conference organized on Monday in Tehran to brief the media about his upcoming concerts in the city.

“Each of our performances was warmly received by concertgoers and years later, I even redid some pieces from our repertoire during concerts in Azerbaijan,” the tar virtuoso added.

Guliyev also recalled his collaboration with Fakhreddini on “Shahriar”, Iranian director Kamal Tabrizi’s TV series on poet Mohammad-Hossein Behjat Tabrizi.“It was a great experience,” he noted.

Fakhreddini founded the National Orchestra in 1998 and attracted a huge number of musicians, including legendary vocalist Mohammadreza Shajarian, to collaborate with the orchestra.

The 81-year-old musician resigned from his position in September 2016 over a lack of cooperation from Iranian cultural officials.

Guliyev is scheduled to accompany Iran’s Culture and Art Orchestra during concerts, which will be conducted Ali-Akbar Qorbani and Shahram Tavakkoli at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall this week on Thursday and Friday.

Iranian vocalist Rashid Vatandoost will perform a repertoire of Azerbaijani songs during the concerts.
