Lian Folk Band Will Perform Bushehri Music

TEHRAN –(Iranart)- ian music ensemble will perform a repertoire of folk music of their native region Bushehr, in the south of Iran, on August 4 in Tehran.

Milad Hall at Tehran International Permanent Fairground will host the concert. A selection of exciting ethnic pieces will be played at the event, according to musiceiranian.ir, a local website on music.

Led by the ney-anban (bagpipe) virtuoso and music researcher Mohsen Sharifian, 42, the band will play Bushehri music which is an offshoot of ‘bandari’ (literally meaning ‘of the port’) music, common in the southern coastal areas around the Persian Gulf. The band has performed around the world, from the US to the Far East.

The band comprises of ten musicians. Aakaa Safavi and Aklou Faramarzi will sing at the night concert.

It is funded by Kamyab-Baharan, a music and concert producing company, based in Tehran. Tickets are available at the website of Iran Concert (iranconcert.com).

Tehran International Permanent Fairground, also known as Tehran International Exhibition Center is located on Chamran Highway.
