Culture Minister attends Iran-Italy orchestral performance

TEHRAN.(Iranart) - A joint performance of Italian World Youth orchestra and Tehran Symphony Orchestra was held in the Iranian capital on Thursday, December 7, with Culture Minister Seyyed Abbas Salehi and his deputy Ali Mordkhani in attendance. This is while the Tehran Symphony Orchestra choir and Italy's World Youth Orchestra had already performed "Where Art Thou, Divine Martyrs" composed by Hushang Kamkar, at the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome on December 3. The joint concert repeated itself in Tehran on December 6. Razmik Ohanian conducted the choir as Tehran Symphony Orchestra conductor Shahrdad Rowhani was in Rome to attend the performance, which was conducted by Damiano Giuranna of the World Youth Orchestra. Compositions from the album "Persian Garden" by Rowhani were also performed at the concert in Tehran. Under a new agreement between the Roudaki Foundation, Iranian Culture Ministry, and Italian World Youth Orchestra, Maestro Giuranna held a series of master classes at the Culture and Art Applied Sciences University in Tehran in February 2017. Ali Moradkhani, Farzad Talebi, Farhad Fakhreddini, Houshang Kamkar, and Ali Akbar Safipour were the special guests of the Tehran event on Thursday.
