Tehran (iranart) : Cartoonist Kambiz Derambakhsh says his new exhibit will surprise visitors

Veteran Iranian cartoonist Kambiz Derambakhsh has said that visitors will get a surprise again at his new exhibition, which will open at Tehran’s Vista Gallery on Friday.

“My fans always say that each of my exhibitions has a surprise for them and this time, I also named my new exhibit ‘Surprise’,” Derambakhsh told the Persian service of Honaronline on Wednesday.

He plans to showcase 30 works in forms of sculpture, installation, painting, drawing and video art.

“These works are all new and some of them were just completed two days ago,” he said.

He noted that most of the works he created for the exhibition are huge and added, “The ideas for creating some of the works date back to 40 years ago, but making the artworks required much funding and a large space.”

“Finally, I could do that by support from some of my friends and colleagues. However, this is just the beginning of a new way and it will cost me.

“My latest showcases were successful and I spent the money raised by the exhibitions to organize this exhibit.”

He added that he has made great efforts to make arrangements for his new show and said, “I have many new plans for work, but I have little time to implement them and furthermore, I worry about my health.”

The exhibition will run until November 6 at the gallery located at No. 11, 12th Alley, Mir Emad St.
