TEHRAN. (Iranart) –Two exhibitions featuring ancient mining and archeological excavations and findings are underway in Iran and Germany in virtual mode.

The German Mining Museum in Bochum is hosting the virtual exhibition ‘Death in Salt, an Archaeological Narrative of the Land of Persia,’ while the National Museum of Iran is displaying the ancient artworks at ‘Human Search for Resources.’

Both online exhibitions opened in the presence of political and cultural officials of the two countries (Embassies of Iran and Germany, Consulate General of Iran in Frankfurt, Iran’s Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Handicrafts, National Museum of Iran, Frankfurt Archaeological Museum and Zanjan Saltmen Museum).

The National Museum of Iran and the German Mining Museum in Bochum have museum collaborations that are based on the memorandum of understanding signed in 2017. According to the agreement, both countries sought to hold reciprocal exhibitions featuring cultural and historical works of the other country in the field of ancient mining, Jebrael Nokandeh, the director of the National Museum of Iran said.

The exhibition ‘Death in Salt, an Archaeological Narrative of the Land of Persia,’ is of archeological activities and findings of the Chehrabad salt mine in the Iranian province of Zanjan, in northwestern Iran.

‘Human Search for Resources’ is displaying over 200 artworks from the Paleolithic to the contemporary period.
