Berlin-based international artists take works to Isfahan

TEHRAN –(Iranart) Three galleries in Isfahan will be hosting an exhibition of mixed media by a number of Berlin-based international artists, opening on Friday.

The (Center for Contemporary Creation) CC Art Space, Aknoon Art Gallery and the Safavi Gallery are the three galleries to display works by over 130 world artists in the exhibit named “Copy Paste”, co-curator Zartosht Rahimi said in a press release published on Wednesday.

Some of the artists will attend the exhibit, while others have supervised their works, which are exact copies of their original artworks, Rahimi has said.

The month-long exhibit will open a new window to contemporary art, Rahimi said.

“Ideas and concepts speak first in contemporary art, and this exhibit aims to highlight the identity of contemporary art, which offers a more public art to the visitors. Installation, photo, video art and performance art are among the works to be shown,” he added.

“‘Copy Paste’ aims to review the phenomenon of duplication, repetition and copy in art. A familiar issue that bears different meanings in different parts of the world,” reads part of the statement of the exhibit.

Candice Breitz (South Africa), Vadim Zakharov (Russia), Monica Bonvicini (Italy), Christian Jankowski (Germany) and Anatoly Shuravlev (Russia) are among the artists whose works will be on display in the Isfahan exhibit.

The Tarrahan Azad Gallery in Tehran hosted the same exhibit in April but with fewer artists, numbering about 12 to 15.
