TEHRAN.(Iranart) – Russian dramatist Anton Chekhov’s plays “The Cherry Orchard” and “The Bear” are on stage at the Mehregan Theater in Tehran.
Directed by Taha Mohammadi, new play The Spectator Sentenced to Death (Le spectateur condamné à mort) has gone on stage for the public in the Mehrgan Theater House. You can watch this new play until 30 January. Written by Romanian-French playwright Matei Vișniec, The Spectator Sentenced to Death, is a bitter parody of the Stalinist justice system. A harsh court ignores the innocence of the accused in such a manner that all the innocent can become victims, accused of crimes that don't exist. The trial of criminal hides, in fact, the trial of the audience itself.
