Mehregan Theater

  • TEHRAN.(Iranart) – Russian dramatist Anton Chekhov’s plays “The Cherry Orchard” and “The Bear” are on stage at the Mehregan Theater in Tehran.

  • Directed by Taha Mohammadi, new play The Spectator Sentenced to Death (Le spectateur condamné à mort) has gone on stage for the public in the Mehrgan Theater House. You can watch this new play until 30 January. Written by Romanian-French playwright Matei Vișniec, The Spectator Sentenced to Death, is a bitter parody of the Stalinist justice system. A harsh court ignores the innocence of the accused in such a manner that all the innocent can become victims, accused of crimes that don't exist. The trial of criminal hides, in fact, the trial of the audience itself.
