Iranian ‘Selfie with Democracy’ to vie at UK Lift-Off Sessions Online
TEHRAN. (Iranart) – Iranian film, ‘Selfie with Democracy,’ is to compete at the 11th edition of the Lift-Off Sessions Online in the UK.
The festival will start on January 28 and run for a week.
Produced and directed by Ali Atshani, the film’s story is about the 1980s Iran-Iraq war. It is a sequel to Atshani’s 2010 film, ‘Democracy in Daylight’, IRNA reported.
The film’s second international screening was at the film market of the 70th Berlin International Film Festival.
Kourosh Tahami, Sima Tirandaz, Amir-Abbas Golab, Qasem Zare, Poulad Kimiaei, Mehran Rajabi, Pejman Bazeghi, and Atila Pesyani form the cast members of Atshani’s latest production.
The movie has previously participated in several international festivals including the 2020 edition of the Southeast Regional Film Festival in the US and the 2020 edition of the Iranian Film Festival (IFF) in San Francisco.
According to the Lift-Off Sessions’ official website, “It is not about selecting the best possible shorts or features from the films that are submitted to us, it is about providing a screening opportunity for everyone. An opportunity we hope highlights and educates each and every month”.
