Iranian director’s film ‘The Musician’ wins at US Tribeca Festival

TEHRAN.(HONARONLINE) –Iranian director Reza Riahi’s film, ‘The Musician,’ received the Best Animated Short Award at the 20th Tribeca Festival in New York.

The film is produced by Eleanor Coleman, Stéphanie Carreras, Philippe Pujo.

The 15-minute film narrates the story of love and the difficulties of life in the 13th century.

An Iranian painter and filmmaker, Riahi was previously one of the directors in the famous animation and Oscar nominee, ‘The Breadwinner’ (2017), directed by Nora Twomey.

The festival began on June 9 and will go through June 20. It includes the screening of 66 films, 55 of which are having their first international screenings.

The Iranian film, ‘The Ballad of a White Cow,’ co-directed by Iranian filmmakers Behtash Sanaeiha and Maryam Moqaddam, is on screen at the Tribeca Film Festival.

The 20th annual Tribeca Festival announced the winners in the competition categories at this year’s awards ceremony out of Spring Studios in New York City. Awards were given in the following competition categories: US Narrative, International Narrative, Documentary, Short Films, Immersive, the Nora Ephron Award, and the first-ever Podcast and Games categories.

The festival, which had the honor of welcoming back in-person audiences, will conclude on June 20.
