TEHRAN – (Iranart)- The Iranian Book and Literature Home will be representing the country’s publishing industry at the Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), which got underway on Tuesday.

The 28th edition of the annual event, one of the largest book publishing trade fairs in the world and the biggest in Asia's literary calendar, will run through September 18 in the Chinese capital.

The exhibition is also being held online via the SMART!BIBF app available on the fair’s official website.

BIBF 2021 has adopted advanced technologies like 5G and virtual reality (VR) for immersive activities such as exhibitions, promotions, seminars and online livestreams.

The Iranian Book and Literature Home, in association with the office of the cultural attaché in the Iranian Embassy, is participating in both physical and online versions of the event.

Due to strict coronavirus restrictions in China, including a 14-day quarantine upon arrival in the country, many publishers throughout the world have refused to take part at the exhibition.

The event has provided the virtual exhibitors with the Smart Live Exhibitor platform, offering them the opportunity to upload 50 titles, as well as attending several webinars, while selling the copy rights of their publications and launching advertisement videos.

The Iranian Book and Literature Home will be launching a digital booklet to introduce top Iranian children books and authors, while presenting the Books from Iran website, which is dedicated to 1900 titles and an English synopsis of the books.

Some 300,000 titles are on display at this year’s from nearly 2,200 exhibitors, representing 105 countries and regions, among which are 57 countries that are part of China's Belt and Road Initiative.

The five-day fair also includes a grand special exhibition in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, as well as an exhibition dedicated to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
