Tehran museums reopen as COVID-19 restrictions ease

TEHRAN –(Iranart)- All museums and historical places in the Iranian capital are allowed to resume their activities from September 18 as COVID-19 restrictions ease, Mohammadreza Kargar, said the director of the museums department of the Iranian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts.

He added that the museums in the Iranian capital, similar to those in some other cities, are allowed to reopen and people can visit them while observing the health protocols, IMNA wrote.

These cultural centers were shut down as part of the measures to stem a rapid rise in COVID-19 cases in the capital, and now, due to decreasing number of infections and deaths, they are permitted to provide services.

The vaccination campaign against the COVID-19 in Iran has recently accelerated after the new administration took office.

Kargar said the decision was made based on the change of color for the capital, which classified Tehran as a medium-risk city, or in the orange zone, and the restrictions on visiting public places have been lifted, according to the National Headquarters for Managing and Fighting the Coronavirus.
