Brazilian storyteller Barbara Amaral tops at Tehran festival

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – Barbara Amaral from Brazil won first prize in the international section of the 20th International Storytelling Festival in Tehran, the organizers announced on Thursday.

Second prize was presented to Parisa Sedai-Azar from Iran, and third prize went to John Namai from Kenya.

Over 50 storytellers from Iran and other countries took part in the festival this year.

In the national section, Mohsen Sajedifar won first prize while Robabeh Hashemi and Tuba Shirkani shared second prize.

Third prize was also shared by Mohammad-Javad Jafari and Arezu Haqiqi.

Grandfather Soltanalai Daryadel and grandmother Maryam Ali-Mohammadi were among the honorees this year. 

In the young adult section, Mahana Aqadavud, Sajjad Esmaeili and Asal Azami won first, second and third prizes respectively.

A number of workshops were arranged on the margins of the festival by Iranian and foreign storytellers. 

The festival is organized every year by the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults.
