Histrionic Mother, Limping Sister

Histrionic Mother, Limping Sister

TEHRAN – (Iranart)- S tage director Keyhan Parchami will stage the play ‘The Glass Menagerie’ for two weeks at Paliz Theater House.

Penned by Tennessee Williams, it is a memory play  that premiered in 1944 and catapulted Williams from obscurity to fame. The play has strong autobiographical elements, featuring characters based on Williams himself, his histrionic mother and his mentally fragile sister Rose.

A son longs to escape from his stifling home, where his genteel mother worries about the future prospects of his lame, shy sister. Her sister depressed by her inability to walk normally is always playing silently with her glass menagerie.

To help ease the tense atmosphere shadowing the house, the mother decides to find a gentleman caller for her daughter.

Vahid Razavi, Armita Forouzandeh and Shailin Asadollahi are in the cast, Tiwall.com reported.

The play is scheduled for March 4-19 and the venue is located at No. 69, Sepand St., South Azodi St. on Karimkhan Avenue.
