Tehran university to commemorate World Day Against Child Labor with “Valderama”

TEHRAN – ( Iranart ) Iranian director Abbas Amini’s drama “Valderama” will go on screen in a commemoration for the World Day Against Child Labor at Tehran’s Allameh Tabatabai University tomorrow.

The film is about the 15-year-old Valderama, so called by the townsfolk for his long curly hair resembling the former Brazilian soccer star Carlos Valderrama, who is trying to obtain the ID card he’s never been able to have.

The screening is part of a program arranged for a meeting on child labor in Iran, during which Iranian scholars Shirin Ahmadinia, Golnar Mehran, Mohammad Malju, Puya Alaeddini and Farshid Yazdani will deliver speeches.

The film, which was acclaimed at several international events, is currently on screen at the Art and Experience Cinemas dedicated to screening art films.

Producer Majid Barzegar announced in late May that the box office receipts of the film will be donated to the Iranian Association for the Protection of Child Labor
