TEHRAN.(Iranart) – The Cologne-based Iranian director and playwright Alireza Kushk-Jalali plans to stage his play “Barefoot, Naked, Heart in His Hand” on racial violence at Tehran’s Divare Chaharom Theater on January 21.

The play narrates the story of a Turkish Muslim migrant living in Germany who loses his family and house in a fire rooted in a racist attack.

Written in the German language in 1993, the play has previously been performed over 650 times in different countries, including Iran, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Ukraine and Russia.

The play was last staged in Tehran by director Yasser Attar in December 2017 in the Turkish language, while in 2016, Masumeh Hobabi staged it by Kushk-Jalali in Istanbul.

Misaq Zare is the lone actor in the monologue and the play will be running for one month.
