Christianna Bonin Elected The Art Dubai Modern Art Director/ ArtDubai2024 will Come With Four Gallery Sections
Pablo Del Val ,Artistic Director Art Dubai, has chosen Dr. Christianna Bonin As The Art Dubai Modern Art Director .
Iranart:Dr. Christianna Bonin an art writer, curator, and educator based in Sharjah, illuminates the remarkable intersections of art, geopolitics, and global modernisms.
Bonin is an expert in the visual culture of Europe and Soviet Eurasia from 1850 to the present. Her research and teaching interests survey the history and theory of modern art, craft, and design, with a focus on the relationship between art and empire, postcolonial discourses and contemporary curatorial practices.
An active contributing critic for Artforum, Bonin has received numerous awards and fellowships, including the Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture Writing Fellowship, Alfa Fellowship, Fulbright Research Grant, and American Councils Critical Language Scholarship.
Art Dubai Modern 2024
Art Dubai Modern 2024 will explore the cultural dynamics of an expanded geographical area that gave rise to today’s Global South. The post-1940s geopolitical landscape redefined relations among artists, musicians, architects, and filmmakers from the region, creating intricate East-East and South-South cultural links that will be highlighted in the section Gallery applications for the 17th edition of Art Dubai are now open.
Art Dubai Modern is a unique platform that presents modern masters from the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa, and features artists whose influence can be felt throughout the twentieth century.
Time and Date of ArtDubai2024 and Four Gallery Sections
ArtDubai2024 will take place from 1 to 3 March (Preview days on 28 and 29 February) at Madinat Jumeirah.
Applications are four gallery sections: Art Dubai Contemporary, Bawwaba, Art Dubai Modern and Art Dubai Digital.
Art Dubai Contemporary showcases galleries from around the world, ranging from emerging art scenes to established centres, presenting solo or group shows and offering new global perspectives.
Bawwaba | بوابة (meaning gateway in Arabic) serves as a portal to the discovery of works created in the past year or specifically for the fair, offering visitors a curated reading of current artistic developments across wide geographical scopes in the Global South.
Art Dubai Modern is a one of a kind platform, presenting modern masters from the Middle East, South Asia and Africa, featuring presentations by artists who have been influential throughout the 20th century, and whose works play a key role in forming an understanding of the current cultural landscape.
Art Dubai Digital will return for its 3rd edition, with the aim of expanding our knowledge and understanding of the rapidly evolving new media and digital art landscapes, through a showcase of international platforms and galleries.
