Sotheby’s Auction Celebrates Middle Eastern Art – Top 20 Best-Selling Works

Among the top-selling pieces, the highest price reached £152,400, achieved by two works by Fahrelnissa Zeid and Bahman Mohassess.

Iran Art: Sotheby's Modern & Contemporary Middle East auction held on May 1, 2025 in London, featured 85 artworks, with most of them selling. The auction showcased the strong interest from art collectors in Middle Eastern artists, with notable works from Iranian, Turkish, Lebanese, Iraqi, Palestinian, Egyptian, Saudi, and other Middle Eastern artists.

Among the top-selling pieces, the highest price reached £152,400, achieved by two works by Fahrelnissa Zeid and Bahman Mohassess.

The second-highest sale was Sohrab Sepehri's untitled work, which sold for £107,950, while Burhan Doğançay's "Untitled (From the Breakthrough Series)" reached £88,900.

Other significant sales included Shakir Hassan Al Said's "Untitled (Portrait)" for £76,200 and Paul Guiragossian's "Évanescence" for £63,500.

Additional notable sales included Sliman Mansour's "Untitled (Picking The Olive Tree That No Longer Exists)" and Ayman Baalbaki's "Untitled (Ruin)", both selling for £53,340 each. Other successful works included Zeinab Al Sageny's "Untitled" and Marcos Grigorian's "Flash", both sold for £50,800.
